Following multiple epic battles between Jon Snow’s little or no army which may, the White Walkers – and a behindhand assist by Daenerys Targaryen and her dependable fleet of dragons, it appeared that everyone was finally right between the smoldering frenemies: Dany vowed to fight aboard Jon in his quest to destroy the White Walkers once one in every of her dragons was viciously dead by the Night King (RIP!), whereas Jon pledged that he would bend the knee to “his queen” whilst presently as he might not blink from his recovery bed.

But, oh, but the game has changed in a very approach that not even Tyrion Lannister, with all of his military expertise, might ever have foreseen.

There currently exists a White Walker dragon

Tyrion, Dany, and Dany’s beloved youngsters.
For an honest portion of the episode, there was a giant sense of as everyone’s favorite pop act, Dany, and Her Dragons, swooped in to avoid wasting the day/win the battle/show WHO merited to wear the crown. this point the dragon queen saved Jon Snow’s army from being eaten up alive by White Walkers, yet again proving that she was the boss. Except this is often “Game of Thrones” and this repeat performance had an in spades additional disconcerting ending: when the Night King killed one amongst Dany’s dragons, Viserion, the undead monarch resurrected the wizard creature, creating it way more deadly than it ever was before: A fire-breathing (maybe ice-breathing now?) White Walker.

We don’t even get any time to mourn Dany’s vital loss in the week, that she likened to look her own kid die: The image of that glowing blue eye goes to linger in our consciousness so much longer than seeing Viserion plunge into the icy waters.

Arya Stark is formally the scariest person in Westeros

Sansa and Arya

We’ve slowly been seeing hints of the draw back to Arya’s assassin coaching throughout the season, and currently, it’s appeared fully view: The lady has listed in her humanity for the power to cleanly murder her enemies. Littlefinger’s arranged from last week to drive a wedge between the Stark sisters has worked sort of a charm, and currently, Sansa may be the newest addition to Arya’s kill list (the answer is murky, that makes it all the additional frightening). Though I have to give Sansa props here for seeing Littlefinger’s ruse from a mile away: The real tragedy here is Arya has become so myopic in her revenge-seeking quest that she’s unable to listen to someone who might know a thing or two about how the game is played outside of Braavos. “While you were training, I suffered things you could never imagine,” Sansa tells her sister. Maybe Arya should try to find a little compassion for her sibling, who is a rape victim, btw.

Tormund Giantsbane wants to be Brienne of Tarth’s baby daddy

Searching for a White Walker to bring back to Cersei Lannister can be tedious and boring when you’re not being attacked by giant snow beasts, so Tormund Giantsbane filled the time by reminding the audience of his crush on Brienne of Tarth. It was weird and creepy, but also a welcome lighthearted respite from the weighty narrative, with the Wildling stating quite clearly that he wants to “make babies with” the knight sworn to protect the Stark sisters. Hate to break it to Tormund, but Brienne has far more important matters on her plate at the moment, having gone to King’s Landing at Sansa’s command. There is a good chance that this task positions Brienne as the latest pawn in Littlefinger’s long-term, power-hungry scheme, so, sorry, Tormund – better put those family plans on hold for the moment.

Wait, so is Benjen Stark back? Or did he die saving Jon?

Just when it looked like Jon Snow was going to be the sole casualty of the White Walker battle, his Uncle Benjen appeared, seemingly out of nowhere, wielding a fiery ball and chain. It was Ned Stark’s younger brother who ultimately saved Jon and put him on a horse back to Dany, patiently awaiting him at Eastwatch. Now, while it looked like Benjen was subsequently murdered by the swarm of White Walkers – the distraction allowing Jon to escape – he is technical of undead status, which means perhaps this isn’t the last we’ve seen of him.
